Oh hey Jesus, what would you think...?

my heart broke again driving this morning when i went past a person holding a sign asking for food/money. i've written about this so many times on blog so bear with me. it's just so stinking right in front of my face. seriously, not a day goes by when i don't see someone with a sign on a street corner or people hanging out in the park with all of their possessions on their back. it absolutely breaks my heart where all i can do is cry. and i know there needs to be a response to that. i think of the families those people have, how hard it must be to stand on a corner asking for money, having nothing except a few possessions, and sleeping on a hard surface every single night. i'm thankful that jesus has given me a passion and a heart for loving people that have nothing.

i've always felt blessed to have grown up in a family where my dad and mom brought me, as early as when i was a new born, into my dad's school. he taught in a very low socioeconomic school, with a lot of diversity, that would actually scare a lot of people today. My dad had a passion for the kids that had nothing and wanted them to succeed. He was living out the kingdom to his students everyday. because my dad and mom where not fearful to bring my brother and i into that environment that people would be hesitant about today i really believe it helped me to look at people for exactly what they are, people.

and i love Jesus for coming into this crazy world and seeing everyone just as they are, people. He does a hell of job better at it then i do that's for sure. and i don't want to stop crying when i see people on the sides of the streets. i want to live into that because God created us to fight the injustices of the world.

i admire the people that do those things for the kingdom every single day. the people that feed the hungry, adopt kids from different places in the world, people that love their next door neighbor well, people that serve people that are unlike them, people that volunteer for things that they are passionate for, people that give up pennies to their friend because they want to buy a memorial bench for their friend that passed away, people that leave everything to follow Jesus when their friends/family think they are nuts, people that sacrifically give their time/financial resources to others, and a whole lot of more awesome things that the people in the church are doing on a daily basis. Isn't it just so cool to see people who love Jesus doing awesome things in the kingdom?! Seriously, it gets me teary eyed thinking of how much people are sacrificing and doing just because of the calling that was placed on their lives. That's how the world is changed and it get's me so excited to be a small part of the story God is creating today! woo! :)
