biking

i'm making a vow with myself that i will not drive my car around town this summer unless i absolutely need to. everything is so easy to get to by biking. plus, it slows you down and you get to actually see things around you, or help someone push their car off the side of the road b/c their car broke down (yes, my upper body strength is getting better! haha). this week is sorta my first week of just biking and i have some observations about it. 1. i love being able to go slow, stop when i want to stop, and see all the life that is surrounding me. when i drive i miss out on most of the things around me b/c i'm focusing on not crashing and driving safely, which are very important. 2. i can get to some places just as fast as it would take driving. i love this town, which is so biker friendly. in indy i wouldn't really be able to ride my bike around town. it would take way too long, there aren't enough bike baths, and things are way too spread out. 3. it's really good exercise and good for the environment. i heart both of those aspects. 4. saving money on gas which is way too expensive out here. no joke. it makes me die a little bit inside when i buy gas. say what, $2.80 a gallon, i don't think so! 5. i get to be outside, which i love. i love just riding around randomly with no place to go, just ride. it's so freeing. i've decided that where ever God leads me in this life i pray that the place will be biker friendly. :) 6. you can ride bikes and talk to a friend at the same time. that's fun. 7. you can get a tan 8. biking slows me down when most of time i'm pretty fast paced. it's good for me. 9. it's free :) 10. since it's summer break i'm not stuck inside and actually get out of the apt. sweet. 11. the pacific northwest does not have humidity so it was 83 degrees outside when i went biking and i didn't die from the heat. yeah, i heart oregon and the lack of humidity!

as you can tell, i really like to bike. and when we move out of the apt. we are going to be even closer to downtown and some fun areas so biking will be most excellent there. i can't way for august so we can move into our house we are renting! :)
